Dissections is a fatuous attempt to order the unstable. To find patterns in the unreachable, in what’s hidden. The sound, and therefore the instrument, are just an excuse that masks another idea: smashing one's own head against the wall is sometimes the most noble possible action.
Guido Kohn. Buenos Aires, March 2021.
Guido Kohn is a cellist, improviser and sound artist born in Buenos Aires in 1988, now based in Berlin. Coming from a classical background (Teacher Training at Juan José Castro and Astor Piazzolla Conservatories in Buenos Aires), he then jumped to non-academic and popular music until he established himself in improvisation and experimental music. Nowadays he works on the sonic possibilities born out of the dialogue between instrument, preparations, digitallity and analogic effects. He performs mainly solo or in diverse constellations, both stable (such as El Segundo Es Terrible, duet with sax player Sofia Salvo, or the trio with Edith Steyer and Steve Heather) or one-off ensembles.
