According to the dictionary, a stratum is a set of elements that, with certain common characters, has integrated with other previous or later sets of elements to form an entity. In this album, these sets are sounds. They are strata. They give rise to layers of stratification that are formed by the simple procedure of making different sound materials coexist. This album is an instance of the process of transforming my work tool and myself as a performer of that tool. The sum of layers or strata of sounds proposes an analogy with the process of stratification of rocks. It also invites the listener to reflect poetically on the periods of time in which an entity with distinctive features emerges..
Pablo Díaz. Buenos Aires, April 2024.
Pablo Díaz is a musician and sound artist from Buenos Aires. He is primarily a drummer but has expanded his instrument looking to transcend stereotypes and deepen the sound experience. His current work focuses on sound as a material and the creation of pieces through concerts, performances, and installations. For some years now he has been investigating the possibility of working with rhythm in other temporal terms than the one assigned to it by convention and proposes experiences connected with this idea.
