"At some point in my teens I ran into the strange, I could only understand it or decipher ias an impulse of intuition that escapes what I can or cannot name. During the quarantine lockdown I found myself dreaming intensely, streams and streams of dreams fell like liquid from my eyes and mouth. I had no fear or joy, neither sadness nor wonder. Just trying to decipher that walk with friends who disappeared or changed their faces in ruins of places that I did not know, on deserted fairs, with the flood at our feet and fire behind us.
These sounds are that flow, that unknown familiarity that I try to communicate, but which I should better let go."
Catriel Nievas.
Catriel Nievas is a guitarist, composer, performer and teacher. He studied guitar for 4 years at the Conservatorio de Música Popular "Leopoldo Marechal" and he has a Degree in Music from the Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero. His interest on electric guitar lies on the repetition of simple melodies, chords and eerie sounds in order to find their interior rhythm and their trails left on memory and listening. He has collaborated and recorded with musicians from Argentina and abroad as a guitar player but also with field recordings, performative actions, electronics and ad hoc compositions. He has performed in concerts and festivals in Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Switzerland and France. He carries out urban performances creating dialogues between groups of musicians and urban spaces and the sounds inhabiting them. He's a member of the instrumental post-rock group PRUSIA, the interdisciplinary duo KL ́L with artist Lil Lilen and of the minimal rock trio sobre. He's currently a part of the Merce-Cabado-Nievas trio, currently producing their first album. He manages the Espacio Ceibo cultural space in San Antonio de Padua. From 2015 to 2017 he co-organized the contemporary and experimental music concert series Conciertos Capital del Oeste (CCO) based on Greater Buenos Aires. He's also a music teacher on public schools and a private guitar and music teacher.
